Frequently asked questions

The questions brides ask us most — about how we work, what's included, how payment unfolds, and what to expect from your wedding day to the day your gallery arrives.

Booking & process

How far in advance should we book?

Most couples book us 9 to 18 months out, especially for spring and fall weekends. That said, we sometimes have last-minute availability — if your date is close, just ask.

How do we book?

Send us a note through the contact form. We'll set up a conversation — by phone, video call, or in person if you'd like to meet — to get to know each other and answer any questions you have. There's no pressure either way; the goal is to make sure we're the right fit for your day. Once you've signed the contract and paid the booking deposit, your date is yours.

Do you require a contract?

Yes — it protects both you and us. We send everything through DocuSign, so it takes about five minutes from your phone or laptop.

What if we need to reschedule?

Life changes, and we try to be flexible. If you need to move your date, we'll work with you to find another available weekend.

What happens if you can't make it on our wedding day?

In eight years of weddings, this has never happened. If it ever did, we have a network of trusted photographers we'd send in our place. You would never be left without coverage.

Packages & what's included

Can we customize a package?

Yes. The four packages are starting points — we shape coverage around your day. Want photo-only on the wedding day plus video just for the ceremony? An eight-hour day with two photographers? Just ask.

Do you offer photo-only or video-only?

Photo-only is on every package. Video-only isn't a standard offering, but we can build it for you on request.

Is an engagement session included?

A free engagement session is included with the Classic, Signature, and Wanderlust packages. The Intimate package doesn't include one by default, but you can add it.

How many photos will we get?

The Intimate package includes 150+ edited images, Classic includes 350+, Signature includes 600+, and Wanderlust includes 700+. Every image we deliver is personally chosen and edited.

Do you provide raw / unedited files?

We deliver fully edited, high-resolution images — what you receive is the finished work, polished and ready to live with. We don't release raw files; the editing is part of what turns a photograph into your photograph — your day, the way you remember it.

How long is the highlight film?

The photo + video option includes a 3 to 5 minute highlight film. Classic also includes a full ceremony/key moments film, while Signature and Wanderlust include a full ceremony/toasts film.

Will you record our ceremony in full / our speeches / our vows?

Yes, with the photo + video packages — we capture audio of vows, readings, and toasts in addition to the visual coverage. The full ceremony is preserved alongside the highlight film.

Will there be a second photographer?

Intimate and Classic include one lead photographer. Signature and Wanderlust include two photographers. An additional photographer or videographer can be added at +50%.

Do you offer drone / aerial footage?

Yes, on request. Aerial cinematography is one of our most popular add-ons.

Do you offer albums?

Yes — we design fine-art heirloom albums in collaboration with you, after delivery, once you've chosen your favorite images. Available in several sizes and bindings.

Payment & plans

Is a deposit required?

Yes — a non-refundable booking deposit is required to reserve your date on our calendar.

How can we pay?

Card, bank transfer (ACH), Zelle, or Venmo. Card payments include a small processing fee; bank transfer, Zelle, and Venmo don't.

Are there hidden fees?

No. The price you see is the price you pay. If your wedding requires significant travel, we'll discuss it transparently with you up front so it's never a surprise.

Do you charge sales tax?

Yes — sales tax is applied to your invoice as required by the state where your wedding takes place. The tax appears as a transparent line item on your quote, so you see the total cost before you commit.

What if our plans change after we've paid?

The booking deposit is non-refundable. If you need to reschedule or something larger happens, contact us and we'll talk through the available options.

Style & artistic approach

What's your photography style?

Documentary at heart, with an editorial eye and a romantic sensibility. We light beautifully and we know how to compose, but we don't over-direct. The best images are usually the ones happening when no one's posing for the camera.

Will you direct us, or do we need to know how to pose?

We give as much or as little direction as you need. Most couples feel awkward at first — within twenty minutes, that disappears. We're known for making people who don't think they're "photo people" look like they were born for it.

We're not photogenic. Will it still look good?

That's the most common thing we hear, and the most common thing we disprove. Comfortable people photograph beautifully — and making you comfortable is part of the job.

Will you take family and formal photos?

Yes. Send us your family list ahead of time and we'll work through it efficiently, usually 20 to 30 minutes right after the ceremony. We keep it moving so you get back to your guests.

Can you photograph our cultural or religious ceremony?

Of course. We've shot Catholic, Hindu, Jewish, Sikh, non-denominational, civil, and outdoor ceremonies of every shape. We'll learn what we need before your day so we know which moments matter most.

Will you take direction from a Pinterest board / shot list?

We'll review anything you send us and incorporate what fits, especially specific must-have shots (a private moment with a parent, a grandparent who can't travel, an heirloom detail). For everything else, we trust our instincts to find the moments your board can't predict.

The wedding day

What time do you arrive?

We arrive about 30 minutes before your contracted start time so we're set up and ready. The clock starts when coverage begins.

Will you stay until the end of the night?

We stay until your contracted hours run out. For the Wanderlust package, that's usually full prep-to-send-off coverage. For shorter packages, we'll talk through what to prioritize — usually it's worth keeping the magic moments (first look, ceremony, golden hour, first dances) and trimming early prep or late-night dancing.

Do you need a meal?

A vendor meal is appreciated for any coverage over six hours. We eat quickly, usually at the same time you do, so we don't miss anything. Most venues coordinate this automatically.

Do you scout the venue beforehand?

For local weddings, we usually visit once before your day if we haven't shot there. For destination weddings, we arrive at least a day early to scout in person.

Do you bring backup equipment?

Always. Every wedding gets two cameras minimum, multiple lenses, multiple memory cards, multiple flashes, and spare batteries. Equipment failures happen; missing the moment doesn't.

Do you coordinate with our other vendors?

Yes — we'll reach out to your planner or coordinator a few weeks before your day to align on timing, lighting, and shot priorities. The smoother your team works together, the more relaxed your day feels.

After the wedding

When will we receive our photos?

A small sneak-peek gallery within 72 hours of your wedding. Your full edited gallery follows in 3 to 6 weeks, depending on your package. Films take a little longer — typically 4 to 7 weeks for the highlight film, depending on the package, and slightly longer for the mini-movie.

How will we receive our gallery?

A private, password-protected online gallery you can share with friends and family, download from, and order prints through. The gallery stays live for at least one year.

Do we own our photos?

You receive a personal license to use, share, and print your images for personal use, indefinitely. We retain artistic copyright (industry standard) and may include a few favorites in our portfolio or social media.

Can we share photos on social media?

Absolutely — share freely. We only ask that you tag us when you post; we love seeing your photos out in the world.

Can we order prints and albums through you?

Yes. We offer fine-art prints, framed pieces, and heirloom albums after delivery. Ordering through us means archival paper, hand-finished products, and color matched to your gallery files.

Travel & destination weddings

Do you travel?

Yes — we shoot weddings throughout Texas and across the country. For weddings outside our area, any travel costs are folded transparently into your quote — no markup, just the actual cost so you see it up front.

Do you do destination weddings?

Yes. We've shot in California and we love working in new places. International weddings are welcome too — let's talk through the logistics together.

About us

Who will photograph our wedding?

We have a team of photographers and videographers, with trusted partners we bring in for larger weddings. Elysze leads the team. You'll always know who's coming to your day in advance, and we'll never swap anyone out without telling you.

How long have you been doing this?

Eight years and over two hundred weddings. The tools change every year; the careful attention to your story doesn't.

Do you photograph other things — engagements, anniversaries, families?

Yes. Most of our clients come back for anniversaries, growing-family portraits, and personal milestones. Once you're a Petal of Light couple, you're welcome back anytime.
